ADVOCACY IN MEDICINE
Over the years, I've produced content for radio and TV advocating for various health and social justice initiatives. Below are some of the highlights of those efforts showcasing public service announcements in the area of vaccinations, ballot measures and medical conferences.
#ENDTHEDISPARITY
This is a fun PSA that I made for a good friend to promote increased Latinx representation in medicine. The video went viral on Instagram with over 100K viewers. Marc Anthony even shared the link!
MEASURE HH: A TAX ON SUGARY BEVERAGES
On November 8, 2016, the Oakland community passed Measure HH to support a 1 cent per fluid ounce tax on sugary beverages that DISTRIBUTORS PAY. This is a PSA for which I did the animation and helped with the script. Sugary beverages contribute to diabetes, heart disease and tooth decay. Big Soda corporations are spending over a half million dollars confusing people on the issues at hand. As with the cigarette tax, the money will be used to better the Oakland community. San Francisco passed a similar measure titled Prop V. It was a great win and I am grateful to the Oakland Vs Big Soda group for allowing me to play a small part in the advocacy work.

FARMWORKER SEMINAR
The following is an LMSA educational seminar about Farmworkers and the issues that they face. It was presented by Student Action with Farmworkers. It was conducted at Duke Hospital South at Durham, NC as part of LMSA's 12th Annual Dr. Hector P. Garcia Leadership & Advocacy Seminar on August 13, 2011.
This was an educational webinar that I produced while I was National President of LMSA to help educate our members and our communities. For information on how to get involved in LMSA, please visit www.lmsa.net or e-mail contact@lmsa.net
LMSA NATIONAL CONFERENCE
While National President of this professional medical society, I produced a PSA advertising the 7th Annual LMSA National Conference, "Nuestro Futuro en Nuestras Manos: Empowering the Next Generation". The goal was to shape the future of medicine and provide our members with the resources to help create the next generation of culturally sensitive physicians who strive to provide quality medical care. The conference occurred at Harvard Medical School campus in Boston, MA from Feb. 3-5, 2012.
